We use a variety of fabrics depending on the season and styling:
Linen is a natural fabric and one of its unique qualities is that it is prone to creasing. Some linen is washable, while others are dry clean only.
All linen from Roman Originals, unless it has embellishment can be machine washed on a low cycle and cool iron on reverse-side to prevent glazing or any shine.

All knitwear has been made with great care. To keep your garment looking in good condition we recommend that you store all your knitwear flat to retain its shape as hanging will result in stretching and damage to the shape. For washing if there is embellishment, we suggest that you hand wash in luke warm water and cool iron on reverse-side prevent glazing or any shine. Otherwise machine wash and follow the recommended instructions.

Polyester is one of the key fabrics we use throughout each season. This is due to its versatility and dyes up really well. We tend to use it for tailored garments, such as lined jackets, skirts and trousers. Most of our tailored garments contain acetate lining we recommend dry cleaning.
Always dry clean matching pieces together so the shades won't vary.

Beautiful polyester georgette and viscose georgette in both printed and plain often feature in the Roman Originals collections. These fabrics contribute to a major part of range. Caring for these fabrics is quite simple to machine wash on a low cycle.

Many of our high summer garments have been specially dyed by hand which it gives the fabric this beautiful graduated effect. This makes each individual garment unique to Romans. In caring for this garment we recommend that you hand wash separately to prevent colour transferring onto other garments.

Cotton is a natural fabric and can be easily cared for as it with stands high temperatures. But it is prone to creasing which is a natural characteristic of this type of cloth.

Some of our garments are individually hand finished to have a wonderful crinkle or pleated appearance. When caring for these garments we recommend that you remove excess water by wringing or spinning whilst damp. Whilst damp twist the garment and allow to dry. This will retain the unique crinkle and pleat appearance for the life of the garment

Plain jersey and printed jersey is another fabric used often within the Romans range. Selected for its comfort. To care for this type of cloth you can machine wash on a low cycle and cool iron on reverse side to avoid any shine or glazing.

We offer a selection of embellished garments. Details like embroidery, beading and sequins which have been hand-sewn require extra care.
Over time trims occasionally become loose with wear, but we always provide a repair kit just in case you need to sew them back on. In caring for any garment with embellishment we suggest that you turn the garment inside out before washing or dry cleaning. Always use a cool iron on reverse side. Never iron directly onto any trims.

Given the natural characteristic of the indigo dye used in the garment, the colour may transfer onto the body, clothing and upholstery. We recommend that you do not wear these garments with other light coloured garments. We also suggest that you wash this garment first to remove any excess dye.

Wash at the correct temperature to avoid your garments shrinking
Do not mix your dark colours with your light colours always sort them out
Clean matching items together to ensure that there is no colour variation
Do not overload your machine, as garments cannot be rinsed thoroughly
Turning garments inside out will help maintain the colour and the fabric
Ensure that you use the best cycle best suited for your garment
Ensure you follow the right temperature and you use the heat that the care label suggests
Check the temperature on a part of the garment that doesn't normally show, to check its right
Iron on reverse-side will reduce the risk of shining or glazing
All garments with embellishments must be ironed on the reverse-side
Spin dry delicate fabrics in a pillowcase after hand washing
Dry knitwear flat as hanging will cause garments to stretch and mis-shapen
Line drying your garment is the safest and best way. Hang garments carefully to avoid any marks or dents in odd places
Due to general wear an tear you may find that threads become loose or buttons fall up. We always attach a repair kit and a spare button to help maintain your garment
